Art Is Recession-Proof

Deliciously Uncivilized is proud to present– "ART IS RECESSION PROOF",     a 30 artist group exhibition. The show includes art in all forms,from performance  art, painting, sculpture, installation, to multi-media. The show presents each artist’s  own interpretation of the theme. Importantly, in a time when the current economic  climate threatens so many socially important programs and forms of expression, the event and exhibit reminds us all that art is of great value especially in tough times. 

WHEN: May 9th- May 10th, May 13th–15th, 2009.

WHERE: Santa Monica Art Studios, Arena One. 3026 Airport Avenue Santa Monica, CA 90405

Opening reception is on Saturday, May 9th, 2009. 6 pm – 10 pm.

Proceeds will be donated to CITY HEARTS & THEATRE OF HEARTS/YOUTH FIRST

Call For Submissions

 

WHAT: The theme of the show is ART IS RECESSION-PROOF. Please create your piece around this theme. If you are interested in submitting artworks from the past, please discuss this with Terry Lin.

(The original theme was "ILLUSION". If you have already created your artwork for Illusion, we will still feature it in the show.)

All mediums are welcome. We will accommodate your piece(s) to our gallery space (projection, graffiti, installation, performance art, etc...) If your artwork requires larger space, please discuss with Terry Lin.

 

WHEN: All artworks are due April 20th, 2009. The show will take place on May 9th to May 15th, 2009 at the Santa Monica Art Studios, Arena One.

 

HOW: Please contact us if you are interested in submitting your artwork. We will send you an artist guideline and payment method via email. If you are interested in submitting your work for the show, please send an email to:

There will be a $55.00 entry fee for each artist to enter the show. The entry fee is per artist, not per piece (you can still submit multiple pieces of artworks with no extra fees). Once the entry fee is received, you will be the official featuring artist for the exhibition. Please note that once committed, there will be no cancellation. If you must cancel, there will be no refund. 

 

NOTE: A 25% commission will be taken from all artwork sale. All profit from the commission will be donated to charity (we will inform you about which charity in a month). All artists have the freedom to choose whether to donate all/part of their profit or to donate the commissions only.

DARKNESS

THE SHOW HAS BEEN EXTENDED AN EXTRA WEEK!!

The last day of DARKNESS is FRIDAY, DECEMBER 19th.

Deliciously Uncivilized is proud to present– DARKNESS. A group exhibition that includes art in all forms, from performance art, painting, sculpture, photography, installation, to muti-media. The show presents the opportunity to explore the absence of light in both physical and emotional response.

To experience Darkness in a literal sense, the first hour of our exhibition will be in darkness (only during the opening reception). Flashlights will be available to guest who wishes to purchase for viewing artworks in the dark. This allows the viewer to experience a different kind of art viewing.
